    Moments

Moments; through the glass of now
Future catches eye of the past
    Seeking meaning, explanation, truth

    Face pressed tightly, so hard
    Cracking, light shards flicker on
the recollections I boxed in youth

A tempting aura draws me in
Prise open or leave to settle
In memory dust; light wanes to sooth

    Look not for the past.
    Soon enough
    in memory's view
    here's the past
    enfolding you.

Hello Karen, What an enthralling read. Little moments of dust, as if wafting into one's memory or been blown away. The indecisiveness itself, is a truth of a kind, an inquisitive truth - to settle or prize open? That is the question. An excellent poem, truly. I totally enjoyed this one. Fond regards, Tony.

Thank you, Tony. I was attempting to write a short story about something in my childhood and got 'stuck' and this reflects the frustration of how I'm trying to work around or through it. Thanks for the read and feedback - much appreciated.

I particularly like the phrase 'light shards flicker' - it expresses a gradual awareness, fleeting in nature, so well.

Thank you, Paula. Yes, it's not a constant more glinting to attract attention.
