  • The poacher

    His camouflage the darkness

    That mask his true intent

    Cloaked in sullen starkness

    Vague his silhouette

    A thief that steals regardless

    Feigned in false pretense

    Uncovering shortcomings

For when the light is shone

    The victim of his cunning

    Dropped just like a stone

    Run all from this poacher

    His trespasses now are known

    The predator uncovered

    Gnawing on raw bones

    For what was gained, remains

    Solicits overtones

    Lamping,
    for light struck eyes
    light returned defines
    the means of an end,
    shot through surprise
    poaching.

Hello divot, Excellent, really. I was dazed in the light of the poacher's torch, in frozen fear, such the power of your words and the poem as a whole. Terrific stuff. Fond regards, Tony.
