  • White Oak ((thanks to Divot's The Old Oak Tree)

White Oak (from That Old Oak Tree)

    Four hundred years, White Oak.
    A sapling instated before Indiana,
    before Vespucci became America,
before the White-Man came to plunder
    its' fellows in board-feet lumber.

    That it should fall,
    felled by a foreign invader,
    reduced to laminated flavour,
factory-farmed, a veneer of honest timber
    to suit the modest pocket-book.

      Thanks Muttado
      Divot's sadness
      occupies Europe too.
      Each year a new disease
      hits a different tree.

      Thanks Alex,
A chance to pick the bones
