  • Judge Me By My Books

Though the shelf may be empty,

Or filled with entirely too many,

    Regardless,

    Judge me by my books.

Though the spines may be worn,

    Or fresh as a new-born,

    Regardless,

    Judge me by my books.

Don’t judge me by the paper count,

Until you’ve learned the learnt amount.

    Regardless,

    Judge me by my books.

Judge by the cover, you shouldn’t,

Judge me for the books content.

    Regardless,

    Judge me by my books.

When I’m far, dead, and gone.

    Observe the bookshelf lingering on.

    And in all honesty,

Don’t judge me by the shattered trees.

    Judge me by the books.

I imagine, you would be judged to have been learned!

Reminiscent of a quote my sister was fond of:

"When I am dead, I hope it may be said: His sins were scarlet, but his books were read." - Hilaire Belloc.
