Very good point, Bry. Ingrid Newkirk of PETA had a movie about her titled ‘I Am an Animal’. On the other hand, Joseph Merrick says in the movie ‘The Elephant Man’, ‘I am not an animal! I am a human being!’ I guess it’s a matter of perspective or context. :-)

    started a topic Animal

We can't deny a certain trait
That makes us who we are
    We communicate and we eat
    Basic skills from the start
    But there's something else
    We seem to ignore

We pretend that we are sane
    Never to betray ourselves
But for how we secretly spend our lives
It renders us an empty shell
So there is indeed something else
    That we had long ignored
(And that is how to be human)

We behave in a certain way
    To only differentiate
From one another, exhibits in a line
But we all look the damn same
    Yet there's something else
    We fail to notice

We are the freaks of this planet
    Never to think for ourselves
But inside there is a raging warrior
    Capable of raising hell
Should they try to provoke us
    (We will never be human)
    (We can never be human)

We're only primates to serve in this all-out war
Without a motive of what we're fighting for
We think of justice, but we're all cannibals
For how we dance and kill, we're only animal

For how we dance and kill
    We're only animal
For how we live our daily lives
    We're only animal

Organic, or are we just machine
Waiting to be told what to do?
We were born to just do our own thing
Relying on others seems no good

    We are no citizen
    The rules, we forgot
    We're just animal, hanging meat
    Just waiting to rot
