Lovely thoughts, darth! Love is many things, and you have a wonderful way to describe some of them. ‘Love is like oxygen.’ Sorry, the song popped into my head while reading this and I had to share. ;-)

I agree with Tanner; and yes, the title is a winner. This is a vivid and affecting array of similes and metaphors. I love stanzas 1, 2, 3, and 5. Stanzas 4 and 6 are not as compelling because the associations of love with sea and flame are well-worn paths. The images of the bounding deer, spiderweb cracks, storm-evading bird and the deaf man's dreams are arresting and powerful. Top drawer, Darthvader.

I savored every word of this Darth. It's late at night but it woke me up and gave me life and inspired me for a new day tomorrow. So much to love about this write, and life. In gratitude I thank you.

    Love is a Frightened Deer

    Love is
    Like a frightened deer:
    Frozen in space,
    Forgotten and lost
As it runs through the chase.

    It's
    Like a window frame of
    Shattered glass
    With spiderweb cracks:
Brittle and sharp but somehow still intact.

    It sings
    Like a bird
    Wading through a black storm,
    Dodging the clouds
    Before static forms.

    Love is
    Both calm and dark
Like the steady blue of the sea
    That suddenly rages,
    Sweeping all off their feet.

    It is
    The suspense to a book,
    The gently rustle of trees.
    It whispers a loudly
    As a deaf man's dreams.

    Love's heat
    Is a raging flame
    That sometimes cools to embers,
    But its gentle caressing stroke
Touches all who look back to remember.
Working...
