  • What's in a saying (but you better get it right)

    I hope it passes muster

    Thank God it didn’t last

    Here’s to some old saying

    The day the market crashed

Had it made in the shade

Out of wool and a yard wide

    It was easy grease pleasey

    And on the sunny side

    I sat around goldbricking

    On the gravy train

    Caught lighting in a bottle

    I had the whole shebang

    I really felt my onions

    Cocksure and bold as brass

    Happy as a clam

    Jumping Jehoshaphat’s

    but

My lead pipe cinch, turned fiddle sticks

    Left me holding the bag

In this two car funeral procession

    A preacher shouldn’t brag

    My ketchup turned to catsup

    Yea, exception proved the rule

I’ll make no bones about it

It played me for a fool

    Unless it hangs a Lowie

    And decides to turn around

    It’s Katie bar the door

    Heaven’s now hell bound

The patients don’t run the asylum

    The prisons disagree

If you rely on some old saying

They all will take a knee
