  • Who are you?

    Who are you?

When you look at me that way, your eyes feed my soul and stir my heart
Like a bird with a broken wing, your love healed me and set me in flight
Your arms protected me and your warm embrace held and comforted me

From my world I will whisper to you and I hope you will hear my love
Your voice echos you’ll be all right and you hope I’ll be all right too
But the tears on my pillow ask how can it be so easy for you to let me go
The pain in my chest wonders if you’ve ever loved me

My heart tries to understand your anger and pleads for the reason
Why are you so angry? The man I knew would reassure his love for me
He learned from the grandest instructor that true love is patient, kind and understanding

I don’t know you. Who are you?

You encapsulate the anguish and confusion of lost love.

          Well done, poet.

Water from a well of pain,
              dipped once, twice, thrice.
              Again, again, again.

This is heartrending, AtL! To me it reads of the love lost to a suicide, which must really hurt the one left behind.
