    Our Conversation

    Ash remains
    so do you
    in my mind forever
    as memories do

    Ash to scatter
    tears to weep
    either way
    you’re mine to keep

    Within my heart
    within my mind
in a turn of your phrase
to give a look of your kind

    Unspoken words
    not required
    an understanding
    by death not mired

    Death did not halt
    our conversation
    that continues; internally,
    some consolation

So many I know have expressed this connection with loved ones who have died. Having been raised learning about heaven and the communion of Saints/saints, I relate. For me, it's reality and quite comforting.

Thanks, Paula. I've only recently discovered that it was read at a memorial service for a friend when I was away on holiday.

Whether one believes in life after death (I do) or not there's always communication, a very real experience be it internal or external.

    Lovely verse

True. And it's generally a lovely surprise when it happens, either way.
