    Flame so deep,
    Hope so warm,
    Obsidian hearts
    With a crackling storm.

    Knives of silver,
    Empty, gold.
    Flame cools black
    To night foretold.

    Soul so hot
    But heart fast cooling
    Like a pot
    Of lava un-boiling.

    Brimstone chilled
    Till solid formed,
    Sudden change
    To rock forlorn.

    Heart once red
    Like a magma block
    Cools to dull
    Obsidian rock.

I must have missed this one too first time around. It's a sad tale of love grown cold. The short, straight forward form seems a bit of a departure for you DV. Nicely done.

I love both the literal and metaphoric nature of this.

There is an illusion to heartache just beneath the surface, that strokes the heart.

        Well done.

Thanks so much, DWAYNE. It seems for some reason heartache is what I write about best at the present so this one seemed to just roll onto the paper Anyway, I'm glad you liked it, thanks for commenting!
