    You sing me stairways
    tangled in your melodies
    and the smell of breakfast
though I can't fly with you yet
    (for technical reasons)

    How brief was the moment
you taught me to fry eggs
yet it still overloads my heart
and is the light in my kitchen,
    you understand this
    always singing by the window.

    I hold your songs
like a breeze holds flower petals
    and summer
holds the smell of ripe fruit...

My mind goes in multiple directions as I read and reread your verse. "for technical reasons" hmm.
Thanks for these flights of thought

thank you RT! different directions is right. it's a memory of my mother, her love of cooking me breakfast, and the feeling she is everywhere nowadays, especially with the birds at breakfast.

It is interesting to me that you mentioned the birds. One of my first thoughts, as I read this, was about birds just outside the morning window singing a morning song as we begin our day. I know that is corny and very snow white but I thought of that. I suspect your mom is everywhere, give her a wink and thank her for the support

I like the gentle wit and truth of 'for technical reasons', and the opening line 'You sing me stairways' is truly lovely. The whole piece, as I would expect from you, charms, lulls, and awakens all at once; the last stanza is as exquisite as a calligraphic stroke and as durable as fired clay.

Lunar, this is a brilliantly reminiscent piece.

        The whole thing!

I love the imagery and wit of the first stanza, and that last paragraph is eloquently vivid, expressive and creative.
