    Grateful

As the sunshine filtered through the frosty air
kissing everything it touched and embraced
I could hear wind chimes in celestial prayers
In reverence, by all this beauty I was graced

Watching clouds of blue lace slowly dancing by
Catching my breath I couldn't help but stare
Yesterdays life's problems that made me cry
Wounds taught me gratitude, how to deeply care

Today orange blossom perfume filled the air
Ribbons of waves of butterflies skimmed by
Open to loving life, my heart laid bare
Happy and grateful, I no longer wonder why

There's a Wordsworth-like affinity for nature in this classic Alexandran trio of quatrains. I could feel the sense of release at the end - that's a blessed state, indeed.

          This is outstanding!
          The imagery, diction, metaphor.
A perfect marriage of style and substance.
