  • My Winning Ways and Hank Williams

    Her kiss was
    cold, vacant and brief.
    My offered hand;
    she cared not,
    as was her way.
    She rode bareback the
    roweled hides of courting
    and as for my perambulations,
    she expected not,
    that I, would do likewise.
    I could wait for her
but to do so without appointment,
    appointments were fences,
    she hated fences.
    I waited as a man
    without appointment, would.
    Patience, as always,
    would have it.
    She returned, spurred on
    and at the gallop,
    before reining in
    and visiting upon me
    a second kiss,
    just as cold,
    vacant and brief
    as her first.
    After which, I sang,
    Don’t Fence Me In,
in that winning way of mine.
    Dismounting in amusement,
she kissed me a third time,
    warm, full and forever,
    took my hand
    and promised, she’d
    put her cayuse to pasture
    and perambulate with me awhile.
Thank God for my winning ways
and that old friend of mine,
    Hank Williams.

Captivating on all levels - title, concept, diction, flow, phrasing .... Publishable stature, I say. Salutes galore, Tony. Not enough Likes.

Hello rhymetime. There are no boarders when it comes to music. A guitar, banjo and a fiddle, one could not go wrong. Thank you very much. Regards, Tony.

I am consistently speechless after reading your poems, Tony! I want to put thousand likes on each, but I am at loss for words, so I hardly can write any meaningful comment to compliment your writing.

Hello Anatoliy, For one to read my poems is enough for me, and then to like them, is like being given an award. I have received many awards from you and I do thank you, very much so. Regards, Tony.
