  • A Ballata (Inspired by RhymeLovingWriter)

Inspired by RhymeLovingWriter , I decided to write a poem using the ballata form...

My love, leave me not for the sea!

What sway on thee holdeth the waves?
Or how doth their deep, turquoise graves
Enchant thine ears deaf to my plea:

My love, leave me not for the sea!

I’ll build thee a life here on land
I’ll give thee my wealth with my hand
If only thou’lt stay here with me—

My love, leave me not for the sea!

But if thou must go with thine heart
And far from thy love thus depart,
Remember my last cry to thee:

My love, leave me not for the sea!

Thank you, RLW, for introducing me to this form through your lovely poem.

Oh, that we can all be inspired as such from each others' works. Wonderfully written.

Thank you for your kind words! I wrote this in about ten-fifteen minutes, so it's nice to hear that it's done ok.
Working...
