  • Lexical Incisions (In Tribute to Mr. Hayes)

    Render truth
    as blood of the vine
    pressed,
    from stem to skin,
    honed,
    thy lexical incisions
    well past the bone,
    flutter pulse to palpitation,
    introspective meditation.

    Parse features
    scarred and beatified,
    projections
    the spirit once denied.

    Thy virtues
    no longer trivialized,
    by exhortation,
    scrutinized.

There's a bold, brilliant music in this, Dwayne - a compact wealth of devices. That you offer it me-ward is a most gracious gesture, and I delight in such strong wordcraft. I salute, with much appreciation! Zesta!

        Thank you.

While there is room for pens that caress, your work cuts.

I find that sometimes, we need to be pierced by art, to be provoked into reflection, to get the full effect of it.

        You do that, exceptionally.

I do so love the way we round each other out here in the zone! Elbows and angles, curves, twists, and turns - and often and oftener true appreciation.

Hello DWAYNE, One splendid poet of a poem, another within, in splendid poetry and the reader left to hail and honour both. 'Stem to skin honed' in excellence. Regards, Tony.

You also pierce exceptionally ! Many times your words cut like certain parts of the bible. I admire both of you like different precious stones.

Wow. I really appreciate your kind words.
I am influenced by scripture, so I suppose it effects my writing.
