  • Happenstance and the moon

    You left your luculent skin
    on my night-table again
    something to do with
    all of my dreams
the because, the so sad happiness,
the I love you because you complete me
the worthy love of a diver in slavishness

    because I love you because
    you do not complete me
    the forgetting
    Eden began
a night mother let her guard down
    and we made each other
    without presupposition
beethoven could take my little fingers
    to coparticipate with the moon
    running across the piano
    rising without feeling itself
    teardrops taking shape
    breaking the morning
    dear happenstance
    because I love you.

Barely got through these lines and I was instantly enthralled. Beautiful, LG!

lunar glide, I havd been reading a lot of contemporary poetry in journals recently, and this piece easily stands alongside the best of what I have read. The lyricism, the truly poetic eye for detail, and the insightful treatment of feeling states - all this makes for a work of real stature. Simply beyond zestas and top drawers and strewths.

I can't even say why exactly - something to do with the rhythm I'm sure - but I love it! It rambles and reaches my heart because of the journey taken. Simple lovely lunar glide.

lunarglide, that you would use one of my favourite words (happenstance) in a poem does not surprise me in the least!

lg, when you "ramble" you do what Neruda does, you collate the disparate -

      And I, infinitesimal being,
      drunk with the great starry
      void,
      likeness, image of
      mystery,
      felt myself a pure part
      of the abyss,
      I wheeled with the stars,
my heart broke loose on the wind.

Thank you Tanner! You continue to write of my favorite things as well. Moon stones tides sea one consciousness is all consciousness . My intent is not necessarily to link but to address interaction. To destroy imposed notions of love that ask us to bite and take our teeth. (I'll never forget your oafish stones!)

in love with this poem lunar glide

After many reads this at the moment is my favorite: without presupposition
beethoven could take my little fingers
      to coparticipate with the moon
      running across the piano
      rising without feeling itself

Hello lunar glide, This is an absolutely gorgeous poem. Played with music, love and romance, a trinity of sublime aesthetics bonded in poetic ecstasy. A surreal beauty. Very well done indeed. Regards, Tony.
