Not for joy the stars burn.
- Robinson Jeffers
You consider the night sky
Filled to excess
With trillions upon trillions of other galaxies
Like insects
With small torches
To whose allegiance do they swarm
While you consider
How your poetic utterances briefly swirl
And then vanish
Like a fragrant smoke at the horizon of dreams
Leaving your heart
Soaked in regret
