  • Where Perched an Eagle

    Where hunter and prey pay winter her rent,
    Be-snowed a mountain stood regal an oak.
    There perched a raptor of aquiline strength,
    Armour of umber in a gilt pleated cloak.
    She borne on a blizzard in the art of flight,
    Alighted in calm and into her own.
    An ancient hewn form of statuesque might,
    A sovereign unfeigned on oaken a throne.
    Gloriously preened in essence of grace,
    Where splendid her reign she closes her day.
    Clothing her slumber in evening’s grey lace,
    Leave night to her mercy come morning, her prey.
    She in her winter, a bleak interlude;
    Immured in the quiet of cold solitude.

    Tony, my favorite iconic symbol of nature. Every line in your tribute to him/ her I savored. Man, I just love your poetry.We could sit on the stool hoisting a few and just reveling in language and the suds. I feel you, I get you, I respect you.
