    Nosey Sods

They watch, they listen but never do declare
Opinion or support lest we realise they’re there
Watching from the sidelines keeping up to date
With what’s going on in your life; your news they await

We all know of those who rarely do engage
Just talk about you when your life they gauge
Little else to occupy those small and narrow minds
Perhaps just bored or lonely living well behind

The curtain of participation that pulls us all together
Consider themselves above; perhaps breathing in the aether
Or not knowing where they fit; with the world they are at odds
Forgive them for they know no better, they’re not just nosey sods

Hello mooneyblack, Through the streets of peeping windows we all must walk. Forgive them for they know not their own business. You have captured these sods perfectly and done so in a perfectly lady-like manner, I would have been a tad harsher not having a gentlemanly manner - ha, ha! Another fine poem, mooneyblack. I do enjoy your observations. Regards, Tony.

Thanks for the read and generous comment Tony. I have to admit my initial thoughts were not so lady-like but the more I thought and wrote, the more I felt sorry for them.

A few things but mainly the people who want to be your 'friend' on social media just to observe and not engage then talk about you rather than to you. I've heard them described as silent followers and thought perhaps they don't have the confidence to participate?

Nicely done - with just the right touch of indignation w/out becoming snarky.

Sounds like you ought to prune your Friends list, mooneyblack. I'm not seeing any upside to the presence of such types on it.

You're probably right Grant; perhaps I am the one who lacks the confidence when it comes to that.
      Working...
