    Internal Battle
    Elizabeth Pridgen

There’s a battle you’re fighting in your head.
You don’t know how it started, but you wish it would end.
You look for help but it doesn’t come.
The help just thinks you want attention and that you’re dumb.
In the end, you’re still losing this battle.

You try to save yourself but it’s just not enough.
    You try to be tough
Only face your demons, but you always give in.
Your family always brings up your past sin by sin.
You wish you had someone by your side
    While you cry
    Tear by tear.

They always leave you faster than the breaking of your heart.
And you know that this internal battle will be hard,
    Especially when you’re all alone.

I wanted to be there for you when you lost your mind.
But in the end you just left me and went on to pretend to be kind.
How many times do you look in the mirror and feel shame?
How many times do you name your mistakes name by name?
Do you just hurt yourself on purpose?
Or do you feel like you were just worthless.

    Please don’t give up now.
    Please keep fighting now.
Deep down you know you’re something special.
Don’t be fooled by the Devil.
    You’re beautiful,
    Unmovable
    Incredible
    And exceptional.

So many, many great lines in this Ada! Absolutely heartfelt and beautiful write with a wonderful message for any of us who struggle. I have many favorites, but am lingering on this line right now:

They always leave you faster than the breaking of your heart.

There is truth and wisdom here.

Hi AdaPridgen14 I like how you approached this, I agree with RhymeLovingWriter on the line that stands out.
I was really drawn in with the preceding lines:
You wish you had someone by your side
    While you cry
    Tear by tear.

Hello Elizabeth, Oh, to have your shoulder to cry on, so sincere and encouraging are your words. Your strength of compassion and understanding is most admirable as is the poem itself. Well done indeed. Regards, Tony.
