  • New Years Eve at Colleen's House

I guess you had to be there? Or, are you there?

New Years Eve at Colleen's House
it's eleven fifty nine get close to your spouse
The boys take a walk with cigars in hand
while the ladies stay warm inside as planned

Written hopes and wishes are tossed in the fire
every year we write them down, whatever we desire
Our bodies are blessed with smoke and sage
creating new chapters as we turn the page

Chris Bodie on Trumpet provides our atmosphere
serenading us with jazzy notes as we bring in the new year
Cheech is stoking the fire, Pluto's having a beer
Linder's relaxing on the couch, Olive's such a dear

Brad and PrimaDonna are snacking on some cheese
David's enjoying hor d'oerves, can you pass the mustard please?
Jo Jo's relaxing on the love seat, enjoying a well deserved rest
recharging her batteries for the new year, grandchildren are the best
Boe's getting hammered and drinking like a fish
while Enzo Pluto's bustin Boe's chops and yelling, "My wrist, My wrist, My wrist"

Thank you Colleen for sharing your home, your such a gracious host
so grab your glass and raise it high
I'd like to propose a toast
Here's to you Colleen your friendship we hold so dear
We wish you nothing but the best, love you and Happy New Year!

Now don't go wearing those funny hats, or I might lose all respect for you. You can drink out of them, just don't wear them . Great poem, great time you're one in the same.

grant hayesTony Grannell you would be an awesome addition writing down your hopes and wishes for the new year while tossing them in the fireplace and having your entire body blessed with smoky sage. Make a wish! Or, we could bring in the New year in Dingle Ireland hoisting a cold one with Tony Grannell

This is great Bobby! The rhymes are IMO well done and flow well. I must ask though, is this based on a real event? Did Colleen invite you to her house for a New Years Eve Party? If so I bet she loved this poem.

Electron.John , great to hear from you! Yes, it is a real event that we have done for a good 8 years or so. Funny you would also mention Colleen liking her poem. I put it in a frame and gave it to her one New years eve as a gift. Thanks for joining in the revelry with me.
