Beautiful words Grant. Does some specific image inspire this?

It's more a type of image, Rhymist; I can think of numerous examples.

Hello grant, This is a beautiful expression of art. A rush of paintings came to mind, so much so, that I got lost in the galleries of your words .For a young man you're an old master, as seen in the 'painted gaze' of this splendid work, transfixing the beholder. The Sidney Nolan of poetry. Beautiful, grant. Do take care now, Tony.

A young man, Tony? I wish I were, sometimes. I'm pleased to have gotten you agreeably lost in words. I doubt you're ever lost for words. Many thanks for the compliments!

I'm conflicted with this one through no fault of the writer, in fact I'm in awe of the poem but I keep thinking of facebook blue!

I had to read this many times to draw my personal image.
When I read I feel as though I am wandering through a gallery displaying paintings by long dead artists. I wonder as I wander what made the various paintings and painters great. I realize that some of them created new styles and ushered in new artistic eras. But frankly most of what I see leaves me uninspired.

Then I happen upon a single painting, I stare transfixed. Somehow this one captures my soul. I realize it is not just the painting but also what the viewer, looking through the eyes of their experience, sees and feels. Together they create greatness.

So it is with all art!

                Well that's what I got.

                Thanks for the thoughts.

Spot on, rhymetime; you got it just right. The personal image you draw here is a beautiful reverie.

In this age of quick gratification a Grant Hayes write invites us to slow down, savor every word and stretch our imaginations. Each interpretation above also worth savoring. Well done Mr. G

If that's what this poem achieves, Bobby, then I am very pleased. Yes, the interpretations offered here are a delight. Many thanks for dropping by, Bobby

I read a school outing to a museum, and the child who gets bored with the tour so goes off and looks in wonder on her own. Very nice, grant!

Your poem brings back a memory. My sons art assignment for his sixth grade art class.

A pallet of greens and browns, titled camouflage.

A bit of a departure for you, I think.

                Your versatility shines through.

grant hayes astonishing how your first version took me to a place of long ago... wandering in a museum with a school group.... and being taken in by a rush of paintings that have "spoken" to me (this still happens).... Mostly of portraits with vivid eyes gazing at me one on one while the others faded into the background with their ornate frames that to me were overdone and almost signified the coffins or the gravestones of the subjects.... the ones that were "alive" still look at me in my mind's eye. And your poem has brought this back. LOVE it!! thank you!

your second version is more of the grant hayesian style! I like it a lot!

funny how it states what I seemed to be picking up from my first reading... 'the painted grave'
