  • Having the Last Word

    So,
    (I hate
    sentences
    that begin with
    the word ‘so’ because
    red editing marks bring
    red memories right behind)
if in the course of penning your
next work of art, you find yourself at
    loss for captivating phrase; perhaps
    a break-out session with friendly
    Roget (if there are others
    I surely don’t know them
    yet) might just do the
    trick. It seems it
    might be well
    worth a
    try.

    Then
    again,
    perhaps it
    would be even
    better (though I can’t
be sure) for you to just
    (just is another word I’m
    working mightily to rid my
writing of) trust your instincts and go
    with the proverbial flow. Therefore,
    disregard any suggestions
    made by me, or anyone
    else, because, after all
    you get to decide;
    no one else but
    you, and you
    alone.
    So….

    there.

Thank you PB! I have to play around with words a lot to try to get the shape and intent to follow the syllable count. It's not high and lofty ideas, but it is a good exercise in discipline for me! Thanks for taking time to look and leave a comment!

Pith of poetic persistence, Rhymist; part ponder, part pep, paired and pointed.

Sounds like you're practicing your alliteration skills on this response Grant! Yes, it's a pretty silly practice. I'm second guessing all of the more serious stuff I'm trying to do, so only seem to be able to post stuff like this. Thanks for the look and like!

Perhaps, 'so what' or 'so soon' - there are SO many possibilities! Thanks Bobby!

Maybe I need more sleep! I'm just practicing a nonet, reverse and doubling it guys - get your minds out of the gutter! As my husband says, "It's crowded down here." LOL Honestly, I need to stop doing this for awhile. Things are starting to go wonky, without my even noticing. Heaven knows what I'll dream up next!

Haha! I read the nonet, reverse nonet as a nonet, reverse nonet. I did not see the twin peaks thing. I am ashamed of myself! In any case, the piece is enjoyable and successful, RLW!

Hello RhymeLovingWriter, A first glance, Marilyn Monroe came to mind; for the life of me I don't know why. A mighty construction and educational to boot. The pharaohs would be proud. Very well done indeed. Do take care now, Tony.

Gee, TG - I wonder.... I'm thinking if I EVER try a nonet/reverse back to back like this again - it's going to have to be centered formatting! Thanks for taking a look and leaving a great comment!

No, no, TS - didn't you read the right - I mean second part? You can do whatever you like. So...there. Man, I can't believe I didn't see this before posting. I want to edit it every time I scroll over it now, but that would make the comments seem extremely confusing. Ah well, as I told one of the people with a similar comment on another site - if I can't be a comic - at least I can provide comic relief.

I was only admiring the poetic form. Really. My eyes were on the words. (Actually they were until I got to the comments. No wonder they say you shouldn't read comments on the internet. :-)

LOL! Well, at least I could provide some amusing poetic interlude. And I totally believe you about your eyes being on the form, I mean, words.
