  • Diagnosis at first shake

    Symptoms before knowing
    Where it is all going
    Body misbehaving
    Mind unsure and raving

    Natural for concern
    Until time comes to learn
    Dr begins to hedge
    Not forthright acknowledge

    Shake now for PD
    For life it will be
    Tremor all can see
    Victim just wont be

    Time to come to terms
    It may make you squirm
    Resolution be firm
    Self esteem confirm

    Information massive
    Dont become passive
    Take control of your life
    Opportunities rife

    I can be a witness
    Looking after fitness
    Slows the symptoms progress
    Negative thoughts address

    Shake now for PD
    For life it will be
    Tremor all can see
    Victim just wont be

    Time to come to terms
    It may make you squirm
    Resolution be firm
    Self esteem confirm

    Identity preserved
    Humanity reserved
For life but set the tone
Your life not its to own

    Stand up and take account
    Together we surmount
    Not alone but with friends
    Never far can depend

    Shake now for PD
    For life it will be
    Tremor all can see
    Victim just wont be

    Time to come to terms
    It may make you squirm
    Resolution be firm
    Self esteem confirm

You've written this like a ballad Pp, I can almost see someone playing this song on a guitar. It is always heart-warming and inspirational to see someone stand tall in the face of adversity, like you do, Pp. Kudos!

This does read like a song, Parkinsonspoet. Nice flow. You do wonders with this topic, so I hope it is helping you as you inform us. As RLW said, I hope today is a good day for you.

MHenryy Muttado1sb RhymeLovingWriter Thank you for good wishes today is a good day. This is indeed written as a song but is a bit of a retread.I have been through similar work before but wanted to concentrate on song aspect as a part of me would be flattered if someone did perform it.

Actually, I see it more with a slight darker vibe, when this is about someone crippled with a disease and don't know what's coming next.

Anyway, this was an interesting read through but, may I point out that there's a blip with the first two lines of the second verse, as there's a typo meant to be for "learn". Just wanted to point that out.

Thanks I have a habit of missing typos nowadays and always gratefu lwhen they are pointed out.The others here might well have a greater knowledge of my current position.I am 48 and it is almost ten years from my diagnosis.I still work fulltime.I take medication that largely although not completelydeal with my symptoms. I still play badminton but tasks requiring manual dexterity can take an age. Somethings are more challenging but I just wanted to let you know that life is still good.

Parkinsonspoet, as I read this I received a particularly strong impression of your determination. I crumble before far lesser challenges; I salute your energy.

It is not as poet that I crumble, but at life, mild life.

Manning up is for men; this wight is air and endings.
