    Ode to a Forlorn Penis

    For rhymetime

    Conduit of urine
Mostly in the middle of night
    And little else

    In former days
You had a life of your own
    Foraging

    Joystick
    Of intentions that sometimes
    I admired

    Now you sleep
    Like a tiny caged chicken
    In dank underwear

A hilarious continuation of the "forlorn" ode that I cannot get out of my head!

Hi Tanner! Does this have anything to do with a chicken eating popcorn through a mans unzipped pants in a movie theater joke? Anyway both funny!! I hope your health returns!! Because I know!

Once again I find myself laughing out loud and long. I guess men never outgrow the need to reference their greatest pride or shame.

    My favorite verse:

How accurate are these crooked rusted implements
    Of yore now dribbling
    Bullets of no consequence

    Most brilliant my aging friend

    Gunfight at Penis Corral

    inspired by Parkinsonspoet

Old men assemble in the dusty streets
    Brandishing their limp tools

    They barely remember
The days of pride and swaggering

How accurate are these crooked rusted implements
    Of yore now dribbling
    Bullets of no consequence

    When in the saloon upstairs
    In younger days
    They brayed and sprayed galore

What is this life for, but having fun? This poem is structured brilliantly, the theme is hilarious, the execution – exquisite.

Thank YOU for reading my poems – comments are not needed, my pleasure is in sharing.

Health – it comes and goes. So does this life – and even the sun will die. "Breathe brave – the grave – will wait, you're here now".

RT, thank you for your comments. Yes, I am feeling better. This was indeed a fun write. One of the unexpected benefits of aging is to watch the body fall apart and quit working as it should.
As my father at 80 aptly stated, "I don't know what happened. I just got old." At age 45, I didn't know what he meant; I sure as hell do now.

Thank you for this. Hilarious and TRUE. The sad dark picture is one I shall think of frequently, perhaps more frequently that I like.

Hope this finds you feeling better.

AS, Thank you for your courage in responding! I think many people see penis used in a title of a poem and they run away! Or else, they read and are afraid to comment. I also want to
thank you for your poetry postings which are extraordinary; I have been laggard in responding to people; personal health issues and the vicissitudes of daily living...

Am I the only one finding this extraordinarily hilarious?

    In former days
A life of your own --
    Foraging,

    Never being tired,
    And then your intentions
    Sometimes I admired
