    Tarry Not, Ye Laggards!

    Tarry not, ye laggards!
    Soon the sun will set!
    We ‘aven’t filled our buckets
    Wi’ nary twenty sculpin yet!

    Hoist the nets, ye scoundrels!
    Ye drunken, useless louts!
The moon has come a courtin’
Soon we’ll turn the ship about!

    Lefty tugged the starboard side
    Peg Leg took the port
    Red Beard tended ballast
    But Blackie came up short

Blackie, ye son of a scourge!
Get yer head out o’ yer arse!
The shadows are long and narrow
It’s time ye did your parts!

    But Blackie was a slacker
    Who wouldn’t carry ‘is weight
So, the captain tossed him overboard
    To set the bummer straight

The fishermen sang the sailor's song
As they sailed toward the shore
Blackie swam like a bloody shark
And squealed like a drunken whore

    Tarry not, ye laggards!
    Soon the sun will set!
    We ‘aven’t filled our buckets
    Wi’ nary twenty sculpin yet!

    Hoist the nets, ye scoundrels!
    Ye drunken, useless louts!
The moon has come a courtin’
Soon we’ll turn the ship about!

I enjoy the rollick of your pirating tunes MHenry and you write the 'pirate lingo' well. Had to look up 'sculpin'. Really enjoyed it!

Hi, RLW, I forgot to hit post, so I have rewrite my comment! It went something like this...

Just as I can't seem to stop myself from singing a few lines (botched) of a song virtually non-stop for days at a time, until something finally, mercifully, causes me to cease, I am irresistibly drawn to the pirate's and fisherman's tales. I don't believe in past lives, but if there were such a thing, I must've been somehow mixed up in all that pirate stuff!

Thank you for your unflagging support and encouragement!

MH, this is such fun. Imagine if you did believe in past lives, all that material that would be pouring out of you. You could just go back and bring us with you.

Thank you, BDB! There are more seaman's tales in the galley, and others on the list. I haven't stopped to tally, but I'll not run short of grist!
Thanks for indulging the intrepid sea captain!
