You know Parkinsonspoet - this is neither here nor there, but if you did want to make it a haiku (since it's so very close), all you'd need to do is take out 'the' on the first line, and add a one syllable word of your choice after 'brushes' (i.e. brushes soft, bright, bold - however you want to modify it) and you would have a haiku format.
I like it just the way it is - but Tanner's comment got me thinking. Just my two cents (which with inflation is worth more like 1/2 cent.)
