An expression
of what a man will do
for power,
is a projection
of what he may yet do,
with it.
And
that which a man will dismiss
in his assessment of another,
Is undoubtedly a reflection
of his own scruples.
For a principle
cannot be so named,
if one is either:
ambivalent upon its assault,
or selfish in its defence.
We are to be defined by both
that which we endeavour to endure,
and,
what we justify by infliction.
For,
a morality
which is not universal,
is unworthy of the monicker.
And
selective adherence,
is merely,
opportunistic self-interest.
Since
that which a man honours,
invariably defines him.
And what he values,
he will labour to retain.
