Oh my goodness Pyro - this reminds me of some of the great Saints of the church who have been granted visions of hell. Vivid descriptions, repeated yet altered and progressive refrain, all set the stage for this piteous lament. You have a great ability to draw the reader right in, from first phrase, and hold tight until the stinging conclusion. Wow. Just wow!

Thanks! It started off as a little quest for stereotypes, inspired by the feel of some low-budget horror movies. Sometimes they are so predictable that it borders humour or art. I was surprised with the result. Turned out to be a bit dark.

      Hooray! Sorry!
It means that I've succeded in a way. I suffer night terrors too, but really weird ones, no resemblence to this.
I was afraid it had become tedious.

As a witching hour horror-magnet, I appreciate this dramatic and well wrought exploration, Pyro.

Engaging and well written nightmare, Pyro.
I can relate especially to this line, which accurately describes a sensation I experience in many of my unsettling nightmares...
I cannot hear my feeble calling

As terrible as nightmares are, they cannot compare with the horrors of war, rape, famine, terrorism, disease, and writing poetry.

      O dear!
      The horrors of writing poetry?
What demons are lurking around the corner?

I cannot say what demons lurk, but I would wager there is a better than even chance one of your upcoming posts will elucidate.
