  • Veiled love

    Veiled love

The breath of pale pink roses strokes her cheeks
The moist morning dew kisses her plump lips
the desire in his beautiful blue eyes
Radiating like moon beams, she's all he sees

But in her presence he hides how he feels
Awkward in his own skin, how to begin
His heart says she could finally be the one
he's afraid of what her eyes might reveal

He's had to mend so many times before
This veiled love keeps close to his fragile heart
Wishing each time he'd died before the pain
Causing him to hate himself even more

Love is far too valuable not to try
A gift everyone wants before they die

This is a beautiful piece of verse AtL. It reminds me of a gentle encouragement following DV's I Cannot Let You Love Me. Nicely done.

AtL, this poem is exquisite in its rendition, and the last two lines are a profundity for the Ages!

You should have a bookful now of poems about the lovelorn, those afraid to love, and unable to love. You own the genre! This is one of your finest, AG!
