    A Poetry Reading

    As he recited
(He could not be cowed at all)
    He passed a little gas
Still, he milked the cudding crowd
    Grazing lazy in the grass

Number four in the series...Intend to post reveal today

  • #2
I missed the first two and also any directive. However, I will give my interpretation. I hear the old song "Grazing in the grass it's a Gas can you dig it!"

Hi, BDB, thanks for the look and the interpretation!
I saw those guys in person about ten years ago (The Friends of Distinction) with the Turtles and Three Dog Night at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles!

That is a great quote! Thanks for that, Suz-zen!

Ah, MHenry, I saw the reveal before I got to this one (me being a linear thinker and starting at the top of the queue), but I love it! I was going to guess something like 'Shakespeare on the Green' or some such, which our town does each summer, but never would I have guessed the makeup of the audience!

Thanks, RLW! If you can tell what the cartoon is about by reading the tanka, I probably have not done a good job of 'reinterpreting'! The Armored Cargo is an example of one that is so much like the cartoon, it might be unfair to call it a reinterpretation. It is more like a restatement in poem.

I knew this would be something bovine, but never expected a cartoon reference. Quite apart from the ekphrasis, I admire the sound of this tanka. I want to use 'cudding'!

Tis an ill-wind, that blows no good.
