  • Deadly Myths

    The conquerors
    first, did orchestrate the
    infantilism of a man,
    to justify
    compelling his servitude,
    and later,
    proffered pseudo-scientific evidence,
    to validate
    his dehumanization.
    Thus,
    a dominant culture,
    affixed the mask,
    and simultaneously,
    punished his brethren
    for both,
    wearing it,
    and,
    refusing to be,
    conquered by it.
    And, when he,
    let slip
    the shackles of bondage,
    to strive for that,
    which,
    lesser beings are disentitled,
    wielded stripes of recrimination.
    So,
    long past civil conflict,
    the rusty chains did bind:
    with hose,
    and beast,
    and assassin,
    admonished him
    who dared
    remove
    the docile visage,
    and demand
    his rightful place
    on nature's hierarchy.
    Until,
    finally,
    a reluctant democracy,
    relented,
    only to retreat
    to the temple of familiar narratives;
    harbouring incessant suspicion;
    performing persistent surveillance;
    assuming criminality,
    resuming hostility.
    And,
    in uni-formed hyper-sensitivity,
    perpetuating the original sin
    of their forefathers,
    struck them down.
    Tis merely the reiteration
    of a legacy of strife.
    With no remedy in sight.
    For,
    he who hath trivialized his faults,
    in order to pronounce his virtues,
    has, by the very deed,
    nullified them.
    Righteousness abhors fallacies,
    and many a dream
    lay crushed
    beneath the strain
    of deadly myths.

      I wish I could be as eloquent as you Dwayne in both your outrage and solution to this problem that is a problem because of pride and greed. We are all brothers and we are all equal and deserve dignity and respect - basic human decency.
