This is like a haiku in sensibility, Merkavah. You have painted a picture with just the tiniest details of sight and sound that loom as large as if you had described an entire scene of horse and rider galloping in the wind. Very nicely done.
Oh dear, MHenry thinks this is about horses while John Wertz thinks this is about music? How can this be? Poetry is meant to be overt with only one meaning at all times!
And therein Merkavah - lies one of the beauties of poetry. The both/and invitation of the verse! I'm not much of an equestrian, but love the feel (and sound) of this piece.
Top drawer stuff, Merkavah! I took it to be a bold conflation of playing a stringed instrument and horse riding, underscoring the exhilarating 'achieve of, the mastery of the thing'. Hat's off to your virtuosic steedsmanship.
