I don't know RhymeLovingWriter I hear or see a word and I try to build a story around it. It could be from things I have heard or things rattling around in my head :-) I write about these topics as often as I can because many do not know. It is not to make people feel bad, but to understand their fellow man and his suffering. They do not have a voice, so I try to lend them mine. Thank you.

I've read this several times. It brings me to tears. How you created all of this around 'peckish' is testament to your serious poetic abilities. Much of my verse is romantic, or light, or on occasion, the dark side of relationship. But to write of the hard realities all around in a way that brings sympathy and not cynicism can be challenging. You have met and exceeded whatever goal you may have set for yourself, in my humble opinion. The suffering of others is difficult to bear, but necessary to know.

Yes, I completely agree Muttado1sb. We have family there. There is a lot of hardship.

This is another powerful write, Sumyanna. The Vietnamese girl wasn't the first picture I had. Mine was of the Syrian, Iraqi, and Yemeni children that are in the news now.

Thank you MHenry I know exactly which photo you are speaking of. It has been burned into my mind as well - never to be forgotten. So glad it evoked that response - we hear about these things often these days. Such a sad existence many are forced to live. May they find hope.

Sumyanna, this is a real tear-jerker. It reminds me of the picture of the horrified Vietnamese girl running naked down the road after having just suffered a Napalm strafe.
