    Mirror

    Every time I look
    In the mirror I'm older
    So I stopped looking
Now the mirror can't show me
What I still see in your eyes

This sounds forlorn - is it meant to be? Or am I 'over-interpreting' again?

I think forlorn is an apt interpretation, RLW, but people start freaking out about age when they hit 25, so it isn't completely forlorn! Thanks for looking and liking! Forlorn is a great word for a poem, btw.

Yes I look in the mirror and wonder who that is. Nicely done MH. :-)

Thanks for the look, AG. This reminds me of one of my clients who was walking down the boulevard window shopping and upon seeing her reflection in the window said, 'Who the f*** is that!?' Some people are natural born poets!

And I suppose the fictitious 'we' must not age, either! Thanks for the look and the compliment, BDB!

I really like this one, Maestro. It is elegantly simple, and finishes superbly. Hat's off!

Oh darn - growing old is never easy. When I see myself in the eyes of my children - I now feel old. You mean you never had smart phones back then? You never had computers? One child actually asked me if I lived when dinosaurs were present :-)

Definitely not, but surprisingly - it was not said out of malice. She actually thought they were around not that long ago :-) It was when she was rather young. Made me laugh and yes, I do not let her forget it either! MHenry

When my wife turned one of the round number ages, our youngest daughter was seven and told her, "Wow, you're old now."

Laughing Muttado1sb I so understand. We ached to grow older - be mature. When we get there, we wish we were young again :-)
