    Length of Days

    eons ill defined
    mystery remains full force
    playing men like toys

    centuries passed by
    ages spoken grace to grace
    truth by bookends bound

    decades recounted
    unmolested spins the globe
    wrinkles out of time

    year square blocked and marked
    passing sands of hourglass fall
    wiser for the wear

    moment expectant
    heaven laden waits your charge
bear your choice – with joy

a wonderfully crafted poem RhymeLovingWriter. At first I did not even notice the Haiku as it is seamless. And with your signature last line!
Though my fave is 'truth by bookends bound'

Yes, I particularly like the 'truth by bookends bound' phrase too, Suz-zen.

And I agree about the seamlessness of the haiku structure as well. It was not obvious to me at first, so effective are the devices and the rhythm.

I picked up the haiku string immediately, and that does not diminish its seamlessness in any way. The message is powerful. The phrases are memorable. And I, too, was particularly struck by the bookends line. Kudos, RLW, a wonder of talent in every conceivably direction!

I'm both humbled and gratified - nay encouraged - by your comments MHenry. People here are so kind and generous with praise. Would that it be so everywhere.
