  • The alchemy of crying

(to be read rhetorically especially when crying is difficult)

    The alchemy of crying
    is in the lustral trickle
    of the very first tear.
    (look at the golden moon)
    Funny isn't it...
    all the weeping afterwards
    laughing in the darkness?...

    ...The darkness
    where subjects escape in sobs
    slipping the grasp of language
    while golems introduce their masters
    radical solutions
and the only ethical thing to do
    is to be alone...

    ...until someone strokes your hair
    for a moment
    and it's the only way
    weather vanes and compasses
    stop spinning madly

    and the world is rebuilt
    by that obedient imagination
damp with a little more silver
and a little more gold than before
    with moistened more lucid eyes
(now really look at the golden moon)
    it's the only way
    until next time...

This is so beautiful. I've returned to it several times and it deepens in meaning with every reading. '...slipping the grasp of language...' you so beautifully described this in a very effective and tender fashion.

Your additional lines and stanza in reworking add even more luster! Kudos - from one who needs very little impetus to start tears - happy or sad - reading this is sweet balm indeed.

I think this is beautiful LG - sometimes what we thought we had seemed so honest, so real but it turned out to be an illusion.
