  • New Day

This is dedicated to a friend who's going through a really tough time in his life and is experiencing sadness, frustration and introspection. He actually used 'Phoenix' when we spoke so I ran with that. Hope he doesn't mind.

    New day

Arise oh Phoenix from the grips of hell
Renew yourself from the ashes of your foes
Alter this spanning torturous loud knell
Heal yourself from this twisted love and life's blows

The man you and your queen conspired to kill
in orgasmic lust to see you writhe in pain
Could only come to be with your complicit will
Defeated into shedding failures shroud of shame

you too can rise again through life's labor pains
Better than the man you buried in the past
Overcome lost love, dreams gone up in flames
    Become the modern day iconoclast

Spoken from the heart of a true friend. You show him the path to his higher self. He's lucky to have you in his life!

Hi, AG, You've bent the words to your will in a most pleasing and powerful way. Oh, the tortures humanity must endure at the hands of haters and lovers!

There's a trace of Shelley's diction in this poem. August!
