  • Temporary Truth (Charlatan)

    There was no hyperbole
    that excited gave,
when passions would not be ruled,
when caution up and went away,
    and he, with liberated tongue,
    unfettered by discretion
    made pledges,
    stoking aspirations
    before by shadowed moments,
    ruled the sombre hours,
    and blood inflamed
    now tempered,
    found himself,
    in sudden sobriety,
    cast as Don Juan,
    for tears now shed,
    o'er past promises
    presently reconsidered,
    subsequently constituting,
    a charlatan's abuse,
    the reckless cuts,
    from temporary truth.

Wonderful, Dwayne! This poem ebbs and flows like a moonlight bay!
