    Celestial Brushstrokes

Smokey strokes and smudges of violet blue
Sultry hues against the sensually descending skies
silken black canvas like an intoxicating brew
Speckled with diamonds as they harmonize

Pompeii reds of love streaking like comets
Intimate slow dance between the planets and the stars
    Heavenly bodies writhing in sonnets
Seductively sumptuous like rubies from Myanmar

    Textured swirls of midnight blues
    Swooping down
Engulfing the skies as a lover closes his eyes
Both gently breathing, in contentment drown
Luminaries dotted, sparkling in the evening skies

    Hi, AG,

This is what I see when I read and reread this poem - A Van Gogh in verse!
    Beautifully written. Lovingly told.

This is a rhapsody of colour, texture, and movement, Alexandra, with all the poetic devices weaving into the dance. I particularly like the first stanza - just amazing!

With painting a dying art (can anyone name a prominent painter) you have given us a beautiful word-picture to feast the mind's eye upon. I especially like the way you bring us back to the human observer in the last stanza.

AtL, I love your images and linkages. The last stanza is brilliant. I also love the deep sensuality and the garment of feeling that underlies your poetry; it's a pervasive ocean current with a deep undertow not meant for the faint of heart.
