  • Plundered into Mimicry

    Hand splayed
    to rest on beating chest,
    that homage paid
    to herald the victors,
    the vanquished
    watching ramparts stream,
    where once did pitch
    their drums to dance,
    on barren scape
    where weeds do tumble
    over grumbling bones
    Insisting,
    we look
    beyond the pale,
    to mark those woes
    of absentee remembrance,
    where the proud
    no longer roam,
    their sacred vestige,
    reduced to pseudo-reverie,
    for passing commemoration.
    The caricature-spectacle
    of this,
    the second raping,
    of a culture
    plundered into mimicry.
