    Parents' Love

    Heavenly disc, lunar beauty murmurs
    Stroking your beautiful seraphic face
Fading next to you and all observers
Languishing in wistful shame and disgrace

Chocolate cosmos shrivels from your sweet scent
Jasmine repels its very own fragrance
    Sadly their prolificacy lament
    to release their aroma, arrogance

More graceful than a swan glissading
Or a long legged egret in mid flight
    An engendering smile so inviting
Once a tiny bundle gave me a fright

Thank you so much MH. Babies are such precious gifts - nothing compares to them.

Top drawer writing, Alexandra. Your language here is full of invention and rich imagery. And after all that wealth of description the last line presents a simple and delightful counterpoint:
Once a tiny bundle gave me a fright

Alexandra, this is my favorite by you so far. Terrific! I wonder if, in this case, rather than restricting content, your rhyming led to new thoughts and ideas?

This is a reminiscing look at your baby as a babe remembering their smell, their first smile at you and nothing even the moon or most fragrant flowers compare to that experience -- and now your baby is growing and becoming like an egret ready for flight into young adulthood and life through a parent's eyes -- not just the physical changes which are the most obvious -- but characteristics, dreams, eagerness to take life on.

Your Grand Banquet of Imagery is astonishing, a bounteous feast. I stagger away from the table immersed in your complexity, so much put into 1 poem. Just Beautiful!
