  • A Few Seconds

    Awkwardness
Surrounds us like a sentry crow
    That circles in the air

    You meet someone
You want to better get to know
    Small talk in a hallway

    That quickly deepens
A couple of glances cast your way
    What is happening here

    Is most hard to say
You give her a quick cheek kiss
    And half-hearted hug

    Which only lasts
A few seconds though you feel
    All time stood still

    Outside in your car
You curse the stars as cowardice
    Pounds in your brain

Tanner, the first stanza is beautiful, the three middle stanzas are honest, the last stanza is poetry, brother, bringing it all together in an extraordinarily powerful conclusion! Masterpiece!

MH, If I said this is a true story, would you believe me?

Why wouldn't I? It's happened to me more times than I can count!
That's why I made the honesty comment.
I know this to be true from personal experience!
