  • A Midsummer's Nightmare

Of Helena and Demetrius you're reminiscent,
Gazing star eyed through impossible distance.
What good does it to you, sweet sister?
For there are no fae to help woo your mister.

Hidden longings do nought on your fate,
Empty desire serves to merely frustrate.
Did nectar overpower your heart and brain?
Till you forget love's not a simile to pain.

Discard from your dreams dreams of perfection,
Wishes of love based most on complexion,
Which are, like fairies, fleeting and lightfooted,
Hiding how from tragedy it is rooted.

Yes, well writersprocastination, in that tale 'all's well that ended well'. I hope whoever you had in mind when writing this cautionary verse fares the same.
