That men should be so
indiscriminate,
with whom shall hold His vial
the vine, now pressed,
to holy blood transformed,
clutched by hands,
ceremonially cleansed,
and yet, by vulgar deeds,
sullied.
The lambs,
vested to predatory shepherds,
with temerity,
neglecting virtue,
whilst at knees bended,
petition, whom one
determines to betray?
Tis a crime of precipitous fall.
Tis a pox.
A scourge.
A pall.
Pray the Lord,
suspend his mercy,
and take vengeance
on them all!
