and we can all echo this too, I'm sure, from time to time. But, at least you didn't start your comment with 'woe'. That would take a whole different poem! Thank you for the like and comment Grant.
Thanks MHenry. This was the weirdest write for me in awhile. I don't know exactly what I had in mind, but the title, 'Really, Really' was from a line in the Shrek movie. I don't remember the exact scene, but I know the response (of assurance) from the Shrek is character is 'Really, really'. It comes up often in conversation in my family for some reason. I thought something lighthearted would develop - but I was trying to finish it so I could go back and work on the other challenge you posed for me, so perhaps my scattered attention caused the diversion. Thanks for the like!
Doubt can be a funny thing – takes us for a spin
Turns our world all round-about – does our courage in
Sometimes sneaky, sometimes bold – most annoying pest
Paints our skies all dank and dark – sapping joyful zest
Why this fellow seeks us out? – haven’t got a clue
Wallowing, a choice we spurn – even as we stew
So it seems a right good thing – just to analyze
Why uncertainty comes round – messing with our guise
Have we really gone astray – left our egos bare?
Are there really, really things – that we ought not dare?
Can we really reach the crest – if we never try?
Could we really, really best – such a loathsome guy?
He (or she) will have to know – or at least attempt
Choice to make – bend or break – no one is exempt.
