      RhymeLovingWriter (RLW)

The Rhyme Queen’s Latest Defense (with tongue firmly planted in cheek)

Some people know from early age just how their life will go.
They follow paths quite straight and true and always seem to know
just how to spend each waking breath with little time for waste.
They reach their destination sure arriving there post-haste.

Such driven purpose dazzles me, igniting my desire
to find and name the perfect ‘thing’ that sends my spirits higher.

When once attained, all others point, impressed at such a pro.
They’d ask advice (I’d give it twice), if I were ‘in the know’.

Imagine then my nuisanced frown when such is merely dream.
I trade much more in jacks (all kinds) than stand where experts gleam.
My noted laud, if any be, found on minutest scale.
Much wiser just to do ‘next thing’ with no hope to regale.

It brought a pout, this troubled doubt, to strain my daily view
beyond which all my sorts were out of kilter and askew.

And then – in flash of inspiration – Thalia indulged
to sketch perspective angled new. This set my heart to bulge
with joy and merriments oer’flowing – so the verse was writ.
I share it now that you might savor her delicious wit.

    I AM a pro…at crastination…this truth owns no doubt.
A day can pass – with list untouched – accomplishments full drought.
Though honor dubious (at best) this forte is my own
I’ll relish it, while firmly set, upon my rhyming throne!

Thank you Rach79. With so much beautiful and moving verse coming forth it rattled my rhyming side again. I can take only so much before I fall back into that with which I am most comfortable at present. It's OK though - I like my perspective too. It's baby steps moving forward, but I am still moving.

A hail of huzzahs! Yes, the Rhyme Queen you are! What a merry, perfectly metered flash of Thalia's smile!

Thanks Grant. When a poem makes me smile while it is writing itself - I am hopeful it does the same for others. Back in my happy place again. Sigh...

Rach79 hit it on the nose, RLW. This a very accomplished poem, with close attention to detail, rhythm, and rhyme. Flowing like warm milk and honey over the willing and hungry frontal lobes.

Thank you imrogue! Like AtL's comment - this makes me happy to see. I've never thought of myself as being particularly humorous - but to bring joy/smiles after my own fashion with rhymes - well, that is one cool thing indeed!
Working...
