  • Blood Moonlight Dance

I dance with my Rumi tonight.
    Under the blood moonlight
    When earth casts its shadow
to the moon above, I rid my sorrow.

We talk about an ancient lore...
mysterious maidens from the ocean floor,
while cluster winks illuminating the shore,
our footsteps headed towards the moor.

I love the warm glow of fire
Next to our cold feet from the mire.
My lover’s kisses and warm embraces
My heart, my soul, he gently caresses.

I dance with my Rumi tonight
    Under the bright moonlight
    When the casted earth shadow
    fades, moonlit canopy glows.

    In this poem, Rumi represents
my emotions at a particular moment

Am I to understand, imrogue, that you are describing how Rumi the poet works for you? I mean, that's how I first read it, but I could be mistaken.

Yes, you read it right, Grant. Is that how you really understand it? I am not sure if others will get it the way you did. It is kind of confusing, huh? I probably should tweak it... I am not even sure how to...lol i stumbling on the second and third stanzas... I am not sure how to make that clear, after mentioning Rumi in the first stanza....

Don't take Rumi out, imrogue! Or over-explain him (you know me, I like a bit of mystery in a poem). People can use Google and learn a little more, if they don't know him already.

Another beautiful, hypnotic piece imrogue. I feel the sway in your words. Nice.

Grant, Thanks for your suggestions! I appreciate that very much! By the way, have you actually seen any of those clusterwinks down under?

Ah, I have not seen those little wonders, sorry to say imrogue. I encountered a shark once, while snorkelling - that's about my only marine tale, not a huge deal. I have also encountered the so-called 'black panther' - a kind of liminal creature widely reported/rumoured to inhabit our bushlands, but never proven conclusively to exist. I may write a poem about it some time.

Woah! A shark, not a huge deal? you are brave... Anyway, will be waiting for the poem about the 'black panther'.

Ha! I thought cluster winks were constellations from the cosmos, and was patting myself on the back for my acuity!
I also thought Rumi was a very strange way to spell roommate, until the explanation at the end, but I am a hopelessly uneducated brute.

Despite all my grade school misinterpretations, I could feel the beauty of this piece, the explanation at the end tying it all together.

    Well done imrogue!
