    Heavenly Longing

I want to explore you as the stars
drink from your lips celestial dawning
Your eyes deep, vibrant like a Renoir
Hold me captive, forming a longing

With you, I'd swim through the universe
skip on the stars in the Milky Way
    and these heavenly bodies traverse
    suckle on our spiral galaxy

And when we're exhausted, we'll close our eyes
cuddle in the dark cloud constellations
float along the emu in the black sky
    sleeping undisturbed in hibernation (R)

This is a beautiful sonnet my friend. Beautifully written. To traverse the universe on wings of love is truly a wonderful thought.

I think you should write a poem using those words. :-)

Whatever, lol, we all know your waters run deep, my romantic poet friend. Copy and paste or do what Brain does - email to yourself - that's what I've started doing, lol lol.

Very nice. I hope this is what I am thinking of tonight during that small window just before sleep.

Your expressions evoke the sentiments and feelings I hope to convey.

Hi, AG, This is a lovely, romantic write, and feels like a kissin' cousin to my spiral galaxy haiku string.
I really love that you are reaching for the stars and showing your romantic side. These are very dreamy romantic thoughts, yet still playful, as you skip and suckle! your way through the Milky Way (great image). Then, you cuddle up to your lover in the cosmos version of a hammock for eternity. There are many beautiful images throughout this piece, beginning with the very first line, which prepares us for the wonderful space journey on which you are about to take us. Bravo, AG! Your star is shining tonight!

MHenry expresses it better than I can express it. I Love It.

Thank you MH. I took your advice and kept it playful but still longing for that special someone. I'm glad it's a cousin to your haiku -- I'll have to go back and read it again -- I thought about using other celestial things but liked the mythology of Hercules and spiral galaxy -- and then the emu. Thank you for the great comment.

Well, gotta love a poem with an emu!

Seriously though, this lyrical longing sings sinuously through the starfields. Lovely flow, Alexandra, and I really like the use of near rhyme.
