  • I'd Rather

I'd rather, in truth, you said:
Your features do not please me,
    your humour won't amuse me,
    you never will seduce me,
    I don't enjoy your company,
than for you to tell me
    that,
    in fact
    you do adore me,
    to successfully convince me,
    that I'm
    the apple of your eye..
    and lie.

Thankfully, it happened long ago, and isn't happening now.

The only woman I ever truly trusted is my 1968 Dodge Charger R/T my friend, Shes beautiful, fast, she gives nothing but pleasure and she screams, but never complains

There was a girl, who said she loved, but she was into sharing, and I was not.

Some things must be given in its entirety, and cannot be portioned out.

The heart is one of them.

I think you are not being entirely truthful.
              There was another.

I have to admit that I understand machines much better than I ever did women.. The machine is logic and can be anticipated if you understand the language of machines, Women on the other hand ??????? Mr. Spock said it best,,, Women are a mass of conflicting emotional impulses totally lacking and without logic... Opie on the Andy Griffith show once told his Dad,,,, Paw I just don't understand girls,, Andy answered back,,,, That's okay son, you are young now, but when you get older you won't understand women then either,,,

Actually, this is just a memory.
You never know when they bubble to the surface.

It is better to be honest, but sometimes it is hard to say certain things in a tactful way. Good poem...No, really, I'm not lying... I'm not just trying to be nice... Oh, now you'll never believe anything I say!

To err is human, I'll still take you at your word.

I believe it was Alfred Lord Tennyson that penned; {Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.} Unfortunately, I consider that to be an exaggerated truth at best...
                      Great write nonetheless.
